Robert Hunter Smith

Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Pinon Cemetery for Robert Hunter Smith, 4551 Owen Prather Hwy., Pinon.
Mr. Smith, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at his home.
Hunter was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Artesia, the son of Alva Mathew Smith and Ethel (West) Smith.
He was a lifelong resident of the Pinon area.
On Jan. 29, 1979, he was married to Bonnie Cartwright in Roswell.
He was a rancher and a member of the Otero County Cattle Grower's Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a grandson Cutler Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Smith, of Pinon; sons Steve Smith and wife, Lori, of Gilbert, Ariz., Tom Smith and wife, Michelle, of Royse City, Texas, Alvie Smith and wife, Deann, of Artesia, and Troy Daley and wife, Kimberly, of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters Sheila Van Winkle, of Lake Arthur, Stephanie Tilton and husband, Johnny, of Artesia, Denise Berry and husband, Bill, of Artesia, and Lisa Campbell, of Artesia; Dennis Davis and Jake Daley who he raised as sons, sister June Hall, of Virginia; 26 grandchildren and FIVE great-grandchildren.
Mike Joy will officiate at the services. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the N.M. Boys and Girls Ranch, Alamogordo Home Care and Hopice, or charity of choice.
