Rudolfo Hernandez Obituary
Rudolfo "Rudy" Hernandez--beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather-- passed into the arms of the Lord on March 19, 2015.
Rudy was born on June 11, 1932, to Paul and Amanda Hernandez in Cloudcroft. He was raised in Cloudcroft and in Alamogordo, along with his four sisters.
After he graduated in high school, Rudy enlisted in the United States Army. He served one year of active duty and six years in the reserves.
He met and later married Gloria Ayala and together they raised three sons and a daughter.
Rudy made his career as a barber, giving many local residents their first haircuts. He continued this career until recently when his health began to fail. Rudy was also involved in the community, serving on many local committees. He was very proud of helping to get a new school built in La Luz.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Amanda, his wife Gloria and his sisters Georgia and JoAnn.
He is survived by his sons Robert (Connie), Alfonso (Ann Marie), Rudy Jr. (Debbie); his daughter Sonya (Neil) and sisters Molly, Beatrice (Jack), and Estella (Steve). He was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky), Esperanza (Whitney), Adreina (Jarred), Kristen (Kyle), Matthew, Tsuey, and Andreas, and five great-grandchildren Kassidy, Devaeah, Liam, Logan and DeTavion.
A viewing for friends and family will be held at Hamilton O'dell Funeral Home on March 24 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Hamilton O'dell Funeral Home on March 25 at 10 a.m. Services will be presided over by the Rev. Naya Benitez.
Pall bearers will be Tino Flores, Ted Salas, Pete Estrada, Roberto Ruiz, Tony Rodgers, and Michael Shyne.
Music will be provided by Adolfo Borrunda.
The Hernandez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.

Bobby, Connie, and Hernandez family l am so sorry to hear of your passing away. My deepest condolances to all of you and may God watch over you during this difficult time. He was such a nice man and gave my son and 2 of my grandsons their first haircuts, he was so patient with them which showed what type of a man he was. I will never forget his sense of humor and how he made everyone feel important and special. Alamogordo has lost a special man who will be missed by many. God Bless all of you.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rudy. I offer my condolences to the family and am grieving along with them. He cut my my hair from the time I was a child until I left alamogordo as an adult. To this day I have never had a comparable barbershop experience. I am sure I am not the only one with these thoughts. He was such an integral part of my growing up in alamogordo; giving me advice on work, school, and even my first car. He will truly be missed! Thank you Rudy for all your support growing up!
