Teofilo Salas Obituary
Teofilo "Ted" Salas, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed into the arms of the Lord on July 5, 2015.
He was an incredibly loving husband, father and grandfather.
Ted was born June 10, 1930 to Elfido Salas and Maximiliana Salas in Hondo. He was raised in Hondo. He served in the U.S. military during the Korean War. He met and later married Mae Salas and together they raised two sons. Ted made his career as a barber in his Quality Barber Shop, giving many local residents their first haircuts.
He is survived by his two sons, Gary Salas and wife Loretta of San Diego, California, and Jerry Salas and wife Bobbie of Alamogordo and two grandsons Ryan Teofilo Salas and Chance Teofilo Salas of Alamogordo; two brothers, Juan Salas of Ruidoso and Roman Salas of Roswell; one sister, Magdalena Salas of Hondo.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Mae Salas; parents, Elfido Salas and Maximiliana Salas; brothers, Hilario Salas and Pete Salas; sisters Reynalda Laura, Teresa Buckner, Julia Cruz and Ramona McTeague.
A viewing for friends and family will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, July 9, and will be followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Friday, July 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Salas, Chance Salas, Michael Davis, Roger Cruz, Johnny Salas, Israel Salas and Albert Gallegos.
The Salas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Alamogordo Funeral Home.

To All The Salas Family:
My deepest condolences on Teofilo's passing. I remember Teofilo cutting my hair numerous times in my youth. I always enjoyed his skill, his pleasant manner, his conversation, and his wisdom and knowledge of many topics. Even after his retirement, I enjoyed runnning in to him many times and talking with him. He was always an inspiring individual. I only wonder who is sitting in his barber's chair in paradise. To the family of Ted. On behalf of the Halmayr family, we send out deepest condolences. My dad, Gerald Halmayr was very shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of his beloved uncle. I too was shocked and saddened. Ted was truly a great man. He was always there to help us out whenever we needed. He will be truly missed by a lot of ppl. God bless u all.

My heart and sorrow are with your family during this time of deep sadness. I will miss my tio deeply. He always had a no nonsense to him that I greatly respected. I'm glad I recently saw him, even if it was only for a short moment. My prayers to his sons and grandbabies.
