James Waits Obituary
His funeral service will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Troy Pearson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Kimbrell-Stern beginning at 1 PM.
Mr. Waits was born in Ft. Worth, TX and had lived in the Albany area since 1949. He attended schools in Lee County and was employed at Coats and Clark in Albany from 1962 until his retirement in 2001. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Thelma Thrower Shead and Bill Shead, a step daughter, Terrie McGee, and a sister, Dora Lee Waller.
Mr. Waits is survived by his wife: Dot Waits, Albany; 2 children: Jimmy Waits (Tammy), Valdosta, Amanda Palmer (Andy), Elmodel; 1 step daughter: Cheryl Elaine Haygood (Harold), Perry, GA; 4 grandchildren: Hilary Willis (Jeremy), Rachel Eheridge (Matt), Stewart Preston, Macee Palmer; 4 step grandchildren: Stephanie English, Nathan McGrady, Shania Berry, and Mark Addison.
