MARY FLECKER Obituary

MARY LOU FLECKER 01/04/1937 - 06/28/2025 ALEXANDRIA, IN - Mary Lou (Boston) Flecker, 88, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1937, in Alexandria to Rufus and Alpha (Closser) Boston. Mary Lou was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1955. She spent eighty-eight years as a proud Alexandria resident. "We have a nice town!" - as Lou would frequently say. She spent her career working at various automotive dealerships and retired from Peyton Wells in Anderson in the late 1990s. She always loved cars and could spot a "sharp unit" a mile away. Patriotic decorations, cultivating red geraniums and visiting Amish country to shop with her husband and daughters were a few of Lou's favorite things. Her grandkids looked forward to her famous ice cream sundaes with chocolate syrup & maraschino cherries served in an antique dish. Lou and her late husband Ralph enjoyed many adventures traveling the US and Canada with their close friends Alice & Haines House. Lou was lucky to enjoy a lifetime of fun with her girlfriends Bev Albea, Alice House, Doris Frix, Lela Mae Fuel, Mary Jo Willman and Sue Hartley. Lou and her husband Ralph loved sitting on their porch on West Broadway & listening to the laughter of St. Mary's students enjoying their daily recess. Survivors: 3 Daughters - Stephanie Johnson, Trena (Chuck) Warner of Alexandria, Mara (Rich) Barkes of Ft. Wayne Grandchildren - Jake (Heather) Johnson, Whitney Warner, Emarie Warner, Kaleb (Sara), Mason and Isaac Barkes Great-granddaughters - Jenna Johnson, Jessa Johnson and Jazmyne Johnson all of Summitville Brothers - Bob (Bonnie Vincent) Boston of Indianapolis, Bruce (Carol) Boston of Elwood Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her father in 1983, her mother in 1991, husband Ralph in 2016, her brothers Farris Boston and Doug Boston, and son-in-law Jerry Johnson in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 820 West Madison Street, Alexandria with Father Christian DeCarlo as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria. The Flecker family will receive friends from 11 am to 1:00 pm Thursday in the narthex of the church prior to the Mass. The family would like to extend their special thanks and appreciation to "LouLou's" wonderful friend and caregiver Brea Ellis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's School, 820 West Madison Street, Alexandria, IN 46001 and are much appreciated.
