DEMETRIO "DA" BENAVIDES ORANGE GROVE, TEXAS Demetrio "DA" Benavides entered into eternal rest on November 27, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on June 28, 1958 in Mathis, Texas to Lionel and Sofia A. Benavides. Demetrio worked in the oilfield for many years and then with Thermo King until becoming disabled in 2013. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan. He will always be remembered for his stern personality with a heart of gold. His unconditional love for his family especially his grandchildren will be cherished forever. He is preceded in death by his parents Lionel and Sofia Benavides, brothers, Teofilo, Lionel Jr and Ventura Benavides and father in law, Teofilo Alaniz Jr. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 41 years Melba A Benavides, daughter Amanda (Lionel Jr) Chapa, Sons Demetrio (Desiree) Benavides and David ( Veronica) Benavides all of Orange Grove. 10 grandchildren; Eric, Marina, and Jonathan Chapa, Dominic, Tres, Robert, Emma, and Damian Benavides, Nalyssa and Mariah Benavides and 6 step grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers, Juan (Delma) Benavides and Ruben (Gracie) Benavides of Alice Texas. Sisters Dora Contreras of Orange Grove, Fausta Benavides of Mathis Texas, Linda (Fred) Mata of Alice Texas, Leonor(Max) Martinez, Maria(Juan) Martinez and Rosa Olivero all of Dimmitt Texas; mother-in-law Alvida Alaniz of Orange Grove Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friend and relatives beginning at 5 pm at Rosa's Funeral Home on Monday December 4, 2023 with a holy rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at St John of the Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Orange Grove Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roel Alaniz, Raul Alegria Jr, Andrew Martinez, Brandon Caudillo, Gabriel Contreras, Noe Alaniz Jr and honorary Pallbearer will be his grandson Eric Chapa
