FREDERICK BOERNER Obituary

FRED BOERNER Fred Boerner, devoted son and loving father passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 90. Born and raised just outside of Orange Grove, Texas, Fred's life was defined by his service, strength and determination. After graduating high school, he proudly joined the Marines, a decision that shaped much of his life's trajectory. Tragically, Fred suffered a severe back injury in an accident during his service and was told he would never walk again. Fred not only walked again but carried this unyielding spirit throughout his life, even as he battled the lasting effects of his injury. After his service, Fred married and settled in Corpus Christi and helped raise four boys before eventually returning to his hometown to become a hay farmer and cattle rancher. In the fields, Fred uncovered his life's passion and instilled in his sons the value of hard work. He was a true steward of the land and relished the decades he spent improving and maintaining it. As a lifelong Catholic, Fred was always working to make the world a better place often sharing what little he had, becoming a foster dad and even opening his home to the less fortunate. In his later years, Fred was admired for his kindness and jovial nature. He was quick to laugh, enjoyed a good football game (Cowboys, Longhorns and Bulldogs) or Hallmark movie and will be sorely missed. Fred is survived by his sons Sean Boerner (Vicki Gee), Brendan Boerner, Keefe Boerner (Monica Choi), and Darren Boerner (Jennifer). And his grandchildren Zachary, Clarissa, Theron and Adele. He was a cherished son of the late Fred and Mary Boerner and a beloved brother to Dennis Boerner and Evelyn Kalinec, both of whom predeceased him. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John on the Cross in Orange Grove on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11am. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10-11am with a Rosary at 10:30am. In keeping with Fred's spirit of community and support, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hill Country Youth Ranch, an organization close to Fred's heart. Contributions can be made at https://youth-ranch.org/Hill-Country-Youth-Ranch.

My sincere condolences to the family. I loved his smile and wonderful nature. I first met him through my uncle Jack Hurd, at church. Fred was always kind. Additionally, he was always a supporter of hard work, discipline and dedication. He helped support me with his smile and kind words at church at St. John of the Cross in Orange Grove in the late 80's and early 90's. May his soul rest in peace. Please keep watch over us Fred, we will meet again.

Fred was a wonderful man and a great Catholic. For many years myself and my two children Steven and Wendy would go to Fred´s place and buy are hay bales in order to decorate for fall and Halloween. Always an enjoyable experience doing this.
