Lupe Garza Obituary

Lupe G. Garza Mr. Lupe G. Garza, born in Benavides, Texas on October 13, 1927, was called peacefully from this Earth to join Our Lord in Heaven on November 26, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Born to Nestor G. and Adelina Garza, Lupe joined the United States Navy and served 2 years. Mr. Garza was a proud and respected veteran. He was named an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Association, Post 8627, and was a member of the U.S. Navy Cruiser Association. A member of the Alice community since 1947, Lupe married his one true love, Teresa C. Garza, on December 28, 1951 and were married for 64 years before her passing. Together with Teresa, he raised seven children. A man of strong character and work ethic, he established his own company (Industrial Engine Service) where he retired as the former owner after 40 years of service. A devout Catholic, he was a congregational member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for 50 years where he also served as a Mutualista and a Commissioned Minister of the Liturgy (Lector) for over 25 years. He was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 11238. The most valued treasures of his life were faith and family. Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Nestor G. and Adelina Garza; his sisters, Margarita Garza Alaniz, Maria Garza Villarreal, Ruby Garza Perez; his wife, Teresa C. Garza; his son, Jose David "Tractor" Garza; his grandson, Aaron Aziel "Kirby" Garza; his daughter-in-law, Carmela P. Garza; and, his sister-in-law, Angie Garza. Survivors include his sons Arnoldo Garza, Lupe Garza, Jr. (Noemi), Ricardo Garza (Nora), and Ruben Garza (Janet), all of Alice; his daughters Belinda G. Alaniz (Arnold) of Aransas Pass, and Patricia "Pixie" G. Edwards of Alice. He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Lupe will be remembered as a man of his word; a man of unwavering faith. He loved and served his country with pride, and was grateful for a wonderful life with all his family and friends by his side. His words of wisdom, his devotion to the Catholic church, and his love-led example of devotion to his family will be cherished and never forgotten. To honor and celebrate his life, a visitation will begin Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.
