Refugio ""Sonny"" Gonzalez III

1964 - 2018

Refugio "Sonny" Gonzalez III, age 54, passed away April 18, 2018 in Monterrey, Mexico. He was born in Alice, Texas on January 7, 1964 to Refugio Gonzalez Jr. and Rita Marquez Gonzalez. He had a passion for drama-theatre. Sonny earned the All-State Actor award during high school. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and joking. Sonny knew no stranger and will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his contagious smile and his love of being around his family. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Refugio "Blackie" Gonzalez Jr.; and grandmother, Genoveva Marquez.

He is survived by his mother, Rita M. Gonzalez of Alice; his wife, Jovita Gonzalez of Villahermosa, Mexico; daughters, Andrea Gonzalez and Elizabeth Gonzalez both of Alvin, Texas; Gissell Wilson and Hania Carrillo both of Villahermosa, Mexico; step-son, Bryan Carrillo of Villahermosa, Mexico; brother, Cristoval Gonzalez of San Marcos; Benito Gonzalez (Theresa) of Holland, Michigan, Refugio "Chiva" Gonzalez of Agua Dulce, and Homero Gonzalez (Ofelia) of Holland, Michigan; sisters, Belinda Gonzalez and Rita Vera (Rene) both of Alice and Dora Elsa Rios (Isaias) of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren, Sophia De La Torre and Wesley Gavin De La Torre; mother of his daughters, Alice Lee Trevino Gonzalez; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 4 till 8 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service being held at 6 p.m. that evening. Services to conclude in the chapel.

A Memory Gathering will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 following the funeral services at Rita's Celebration Station, 501 W. Main, Alice, Texas.
