YOLANDA JONES LOPEZ Yolanda Jones Lopez aka Yolie, born and raised in the heart of Alice, Texas on October 11, 1946, to Jose Jones and Andrea Garza Jones, peacefully departed from this world on May 6, 2024 Her life was a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and a touch of mischief. Yolanda's high school years were colored with the sounds of music and the camaraderie of the Fighting Coyote Band. As a member of the Alice High School class of '65, she showcased her musical talents, playing the French Horn and twirling her baton with gusto. Despite her humorous recollections of her twirling mishaps, her beloved band teacher, Mr. Taylor, saw something special in her and gave her a chance to shine. Beyond the schoolyard, Yolanda embarked on a journey of exploration and growth. From trying her hand at cosmetology to serving her community as a traffic guard and meter maid for the Alice Police Department, she embraced each opportunity with enthusiasm. Her tenure at the Pleasanton Walmart, spanning over two decades, saw her as a dependable Department Manager for Hardware and paints. Crafting was her secret passion, and even on her final days, she sought solace in the familiarity of her crafts as she asked the nurse to bring her glue gun. Retirement beckoned Yolanda to Ohio, where she became an indispensable pillar of support for her daughter and grandchildren. She relished her role as the unofficial queen of the school pickup line, arriving early to swap stories with fellow parents. She would leave the house 2 hours before school let out to ensure that she would be the first car in line. It was there she would make many friends and get all the chisme. Cooking was her love language, and while Alzheimer's may have clouded some memories, she could fondly tell you how to cook her favorites and was proud to do so. Her love for music remained steadfast, and when you played her old favorites, her voice would blend seamlessly with the melodies. Yolanda leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by her sons, Hector Lopez (Diane) and Carlos Lopez Jr. (Melissa), daughter Celina Dugas (Peter), and her faithful companion, Bella. Her grandchildren, Hector Jr., Lissa Marie, Chase (Jo Marie), Nicolas, AJ, Tres, Marissa, Devin, Christa, Christian, Juju, and John along with great-grandchildren Tauriel and Hudson, will carry on her legacy. Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Andrea, her brother Ralph Jones, her ex-husband Carlos Lopez Sr, and her daughter Cheryelle. Though they have passed from this world, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved them dearly. In remembering Yolanda, let us hold dear the laughter, the love, and the stories she so generously shared. Though she may have left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her embrace. Here's to Yolandamay her memory be a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness, and her legacy an everlasting source of inspiration. Family will receive friends and relatives at 10:00A.M. on Friday May 17,2024 at Rosas Funeral Home. A Memorial Rosary will be recited at 11:30 A.M. that morning. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M. that same afternoon at Our Lady of Guadalupe catholic Church. Inurnment of the cremations will follow at "the Mota" Bazan Cemetery in Duval County.
