Earlann Williams was born January 26, 1932 in Eastland, Texas to Earl T and Zora Mae (Burton) Williams. She spent her formative years attending the Amarillo Public School System at Sam Houston Junior High, Amarillo High School, and winding up her education with a year at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Her father started her working in the printing business early, putting her to work in his shop. She worked with her family for Williams Printing many years. She involved her own children as they were able. When her dad retired and sold his shop, she went to work for Whitney Russell soon after; where she would work until her retirement. The smell of printer ink still triggers good family memories.
On October 3, 1951, she would marry her loving husband James Randell Short with whom she would spend the next 69 years raising their children, and building an amazing life together until his passing on September 30, 2020.
Earlann was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo until 1977 when she and James relocated to Fritch, Texas. She then took up membership at First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch. She was very involved in her church. She worked in the nursery/preschool department at First Baptist Amarillo, and would teach the Ladies Sunday School Class in Fritch. She remained a dedicated prayer warrior for her family, friends, and church. She was always loving and giving to those around her.
Earlann possessed a talent for crafting. She enjoyed participating in the Fritch Craft Club and did many crafts. She always tried new ideas as they were introduced to her. She would sew clothes for her family, and knit a Christmas stocking for any new additions to join their always growing family. She crocheted afghans and knitted sweaters for every grandchild.
Earlann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, two sisters, and a brother. Those left to cherish her memories are her children Brenda Bennett and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Randy Short and wife Debbie of Marlin, TX, daughter Vicki Kirksey and husband Michael of Arlington, TX; brother Ben Williams and wife Lola of Clifton, TX, and brother in law Wendell Short and wife Glenna of Amarillo. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many other in laws, nieces, nephews, loving family and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a memorial donation be made in honor of Earlann Williams Short to First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, 520 Overland Trail Fritch, Texas 79036.
