Emmett Smart Obituary
Mr. Smart passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Tyler. He was born January 13, 1944 in Foreman, Arkansas to Emmett Lee and Myrtle Taylor Smart.
Emmett was a member of Emerald Bay Community Church, VFW and the Tennessee Squires Assn. He graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He held the position of Distribution Center Manager for Levi Strauss and Company for 29 years.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phillip Dale Smart and sisters, Billy Fern Williams and Mona Stokes.
He is survived by his loving family including Linda and Tammy Smart, brothers, Jimmy and Robbie Smart along with sisters, Francis McRae and Linda Gayle McClure.
Emmett served in the US Army from 1967 through 1969 with tours in Vietnam and White Sands Missile Base in White Sands, N.M. During his military service years he was awarded:
Bronze Star with V Device
Purple Heart
Bronze Star Medal with first OLC
Silver Star
His extra training was titled "Code of Conduct, Military Justice".
Visitation was on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
