Thomas William "Tommy" Taylor

Thomas (Tommy) William Taylor, 68, of Amarillo, died Friday, September 7, 2018. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, September 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 (come and go) in the Edward Davis room on the 9th floor of the FirstBank Southwest Tower (formerly Chase Tower), 600 S. Tyler Street. Tommy was a Jaycee for many years and was a JCI Senator. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, darts, and dominos and poker with friends. We will all miss Tommy's infectious laugh, his jokes, and his stories.

Tommy was born February 16, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Richard R. Alton and Reta Ditto Taylor. He married Janet Cooper Steinhoff in Carrollton, Texas, on September 21, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Janet Cooper Taylor; mother Reta Taylor; sisters Theresa Riddle and husband Mike and Judy Puga and husband Richy of Odessa; brother Richard Taylor and wife Mary of Tonopah, Arizona; son James Taylor, Jr., and wife Kim of Mineral Wells; daughter Torreya Tongate of Veribest; stepson Chad Eric Steinhoff and wife Ashley of Weatherford; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Jim Taylor and his grandmother Mallinda Ditto.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Gracie's Project in care of Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation, 4207 W. 21st Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Gracie's Project is a non-profit that rescues dogs that are on the euthanasia list plus much more.
