Betty LeBert Obituary

Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Stepmother, Aunt, Cousin, Neighbor, and Kiltie peacefully reached heaven on August 7, 2021 in her home.
Born February 26, 1946 to Roy and Gertrude Hogue in Franklin, LA, the family then moved to Lake Charles. She attended LC High School and was always proud to be a Kiltie, and anxious for their reunions when the group could perform. She graduated from McNeese State University in Education, then worked 26 years for Conoco in Human Resources.
Mom was a true Southern lady, like her mother – always proper and the perfect hostess for any event and Sunday lunch after church was required and everyone had a gift at Christmas. Her favorites included anything with her grandkids, yearly trips to Cozumel, shopping at the Canton, TX Flea Market and staying on the grounds in their motorhome, Christmas shopping with Jen, cooking/baking for Elton LeBert's Monday night jam sessions in Ragley, making your favorite birthday cake, Friday nights with the neighbors, boiled crawfish, growing roses and tomatoes, supervising LeBert maintenance and project activities, hosting garage sales, camping, Barbe Football and Bluebelles, cooking for neighbors, and anything Trish Eddleman & Gloria Gibson or the Gaithers sing.
She is survived by two children, Brett (Wanda) LeBert and Jennifer (Jade) Brignac; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Natalie LeBert, and Lauren and Brody Brignac; stepchildren, Wayne (Pam) LeBert, Terry LeBert, and Cindy (Dickey) Travis; nieces, Betty Isbill and Leslie (Tony) McHendry; and great niece Blair (Darren) Thomas, ten step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence LeBert; parents; one sister, Vallie Jean Hogue Schecter; and one step-grandson, Kevin LeBert.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Charlotte Burd, Tennille Handy, countless friends, and the Ladies of the Ridge.
Her funeral service will be held in the North Venue of Trinity Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Monroe will officiate. Burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens following the service. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Center at www.stnickcenter.org

Betty & Bert were cross the street neighbors of my elderly uncle & aunt. They were so good to them- checking on them, bringing over meals a all of which Betty continued after Bert had died & she had been diagnosed with cancer. She was giving & caring & generous - a mother hen to the whole neighborhood which she’d patrol on her golf cart seeing who needed help. We appreciated her so much & know how much her family will miss her. I went over 1 day to thank them & thanked her many times later. I am happy she is now at peace & hopefully looking down on her chicks with a smile. Rest well, Betty. Sharon & Hooper Nichols

Betty and Clarence were the absolute best neighbors. It might be hard to live as backdoor neighbors for 45 years if we had not had such wonderful, caring folks as the LeBerts were. They reared their children to love and respect others (except for Bret and his "Stinky Pinky" comments to me!), and they have grown into wonderful adults with great children. We were a very blessed family to have the Clarence LeBert family as our neighbors. God bless you and be with you through this very difficult time. We have prayers for all of you. Love, Janell and Hunter Perrin

My husband and I met Clarence and Betty at the Monday night jam sessions in Ragley. We enjoyed the dishes that she brought to share. We saw that “Southern Lady” in her and truly loved chatting with her each week. We loved them both immediately. We lift prayers for all that love Betty and will miss her.
