Lance Spencer Obituary

Lance Raymond Spencer, former resident of Lake Charles and son of Raymond C. Spencer and the late Leslie J. Hinton, passed away Jan. 4, 2021 in Norwalk, Ct. Lance grew up in both Colorado and Alaska where he played high school football and baseball and learned to play hockey. He returned to Lake Charles where he attended McNeese State and worked as a massage therapist and personal trainer. He later joined the Sulphur Fire Department and played on recreational softball and hockey teams. He also enjoyed fishing with his dad.
Lance's passion for the outdoors returned him to the Colorado mountains where he was employed as a captain of the Snowmass Fire Department. An avid snowboarder, he spent a lot of time on the ski mountain and taught daughter Addison how to ski. He also loved camping, hiking and fly fishing with his faithful golden retriever Sam.
In 2018, Lance completed his Masters Degree in Contemplative Psychology at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and was working as an emergency response therapist in Sterling, Co.
Lance's wanderlust took him places near and far. From Fred's Lounge in Big Lake on his Harley, to the lakes region of New Hampshire, to elephant riding in Thailand, he was always up for an adventure. Lance's kind heart and soul made him a good friend to many. He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends.
Lance is survived by his daughter, Addison Jane of Youngsville, La., Father, Ray Spencer and Step Mother, Nina Annette Shroll of Sulphur, La., Aunts, Dayna Houston and Regina Spencer Wawak (George) of Lake Charles, La., Uncle, Tommy Spencer (Debbie) of Lake City Fl., sister, Buffy Spencer Mutti (Duane) and their three children, of Norwalk, Ct., along with cousins in Lake Charles and around the country.

I did not know him, but I know his dad. I want to believe that he was a kind and wonderful young man. He will be missed by family, friends and all who crossed path with him.
