Sherman Cloman Obituary

Homegoing Celebration Services for Sherman Roy Cloman, Sr., 73, will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021, at New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 4211 Opelousas St., Lake Charles, LA. Apostle Amos Horton, Jr., will officiate. Visiting will be in the church from 11 a.m. until the time of celebration services. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, La. Face covering and social distancing guidelines are required.
Sherman Roy Cloman, Sr. was born to Olivia Roe and the late Hardy Johnson. He graduated from Richwood High School in Richwood, La. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior at an early age. He served as an usher for many years in the church. Sherman turned his love of caring for others into a career as an Orderly at E. A. Conway Hospital in Monroe, LA. He also had a passion and love for carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
Sherman met the love of his life (Cheri) on Feb. 10, 1992, at 9:45 p.m. on a Wednesday night. Later they married and to that union, they had five children, Shermain Cloman, Sherman Cloman, Jr., Hannah Cloman, Christopher Lloyd, and Jonathan Lloyd Commodore. He also had four other children from a previous marriage, Dennise, Shannon, Tanzania, & Frankie.
Prior to Sherman's death, he was well taken care of at his residence and loved dearly by his wife & children until he received his wings on March 11, 2021. Sherman was known for his friendly attitude, humbleness, willingness to help others, loyalty to family & friends, and his award-winning smile. He was truly loved by his sister-in-law, Keelye Thomlinson, his brother Wayne fields, his cousin George Downs, his extended family, the Linda Ceasar Family, and the Lavergne Family.
Sherman was preceded in death by his father, Hardy Johnson, and his son Dennis Cloman.
Sherman is survived by his loving wife, Cheri, Cloman; his children, Shermaine Cloman, Sherman Roy Cloman, Jr., Hannah Cloman, Christopher Lloyd, Jonathan Lloyd Commodore, Shannon Cloman, Tanzania Cloman, and Frankie Cloman (Quarry); his brother, Wayne D. Fields; his mother, Olivia Roe; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Cloman; his sister-in-law, Keelye Thomlinson; seven sisters, a host of grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren.
