Barbara Touchstone, age 91, peacefully passed away at The Phoenix in Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, September 6th, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1934 in Amite, Louisiana to the late Toy and Ernestine Lewis. Barbara was known for her sweet and nurturing demeanor, who loved taking care of her family. She was a God fearing woman who enjoyed going to church. When she was able, she always cooked on Sundays after church, her homemade tomato gravy and biscuits will be missed, which those recipes were passed down to her family. What brought her the most joy was babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her family making memories that will last forever.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Corkern (Vicki) and Keith Corkern; grandchildren, Coye Corkern (Katie), Toye Corkern, Chad Corkern, Carmen Brabham (Jason), Richelle Hoover (Michael), Amanda Corkern, Rebecca Kennedy (Bruce); great-grandchildren, Stephenie Reid (Gabriel), Lane Hoover, John Hoover, Brianna Folse (Austin), Thomas Corkern (Kaitlyn), Dakota Corkern, Leighann Corkern, Dalton Brabham, Carlin Brabham, Kaylon Brabham, Aaron Jenkins, Connor Corkern, Cooper Corkern, Wesley Corkern, Sam Corkern, Jordan Saltalamacchia, Taylor Lemoine, and John Abel "Jak" Kennedy. Also survived by her great-great-grandchildren, Ellie Mae Reid, Leon Folse, Whitlee Blair Corkern, Hadlee Elizabeth Saltalamacchia; her sister, Audrey Crawford (Bill); daughter-in-laws, Dana Corkern and Kathie Corkern; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Lewis.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Toy and Ernestine Lewis; husband, Robert Touchstone; sons, John W. Corkern and Thomas L. Corkern; father of her children, John Q. Corkern; siblings, Robert L. "Mike" Lewis and Pat Burnthorne; and grandchildren, Craig Allen Corkern and Laniah Corkern.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Bro. Terry Robertson will officiate the services with burial to follow in Sharon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
