Sgt. Barry James Boudreaux, a humble man, devoted husband, loving father, cherished Opa (Grandfather), and a proud Veteran, passed away on March 18, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on August 23, 1954, in
Houma, Louisiana, to the late Thelma Marie Boudreaux and George Joseph Boudreaux, Barry's journey through life was marked by unwavering love for his family and service to his country.
Barry's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of a dairy farm in
Loranger, Louisiana, where he developed the values of hard work and family unity. After graduating from Loranger High School in 1972, he bravely entered the United States Army with his father's consent, as he was a determined 17-year-old. His military career, primarily stationed in Europe (Landstuhl, Germany), was distinguished by his expertise in defense satellite communications systems. Barry's dedication to his country was recognized through numerous awards and certifications, a testament to his commitment and skill.
After retiring from the Army, Barry and his family moved back to his home town of Loranger. They built their house right by his parents and his brother, Dickie. Barry continued to work in communications, applying the discipline and knowledge he had acquired during his service. His professional life was as commendable as his military tenure, marked by the same integrity and excellence.
Barry's heart, however, belonged to his family. He was a loving husband to Saskia Grazianna Riemens Boudreaux for 42 cherished years, after meeting her in the Netherlands and marrying in the City Hall of Maastricht on August 5, 1983. Together, they raised two children, Sarina Barbara Boudreaux Oliveri (Michael) and Timothy Joseph Leonard Boudreaux (Kristal), who brought joy and pride to Barry's life. His role as Opa to his granddaughters, Elise Marie Oliveri and Eleanor Josephine Oliveri, was one he treasured.
Barry is survived by two sisters, Georgiana Bankston (the late Earl) and Anita Garner (Richard); three brothers, Carl Boudreaux (Gail), Chris Boudreaux (Lisa), and Dickie Boudreaux (Janell); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Boudreaux; his sister, Diana Frazier; and her husband, Pete.
Barry had a passion for all things military, Space X, a keen interest in politics, and a love for the great outdoors. Music, especially the tunes of Willie Nelson, brought him solace and joy. Above all, his family was his world, and the time spent with his beloved wife, children and their spouses, and his grandkids was what he valued most.
Barry served his country with honor and his family with all his heart. He was a simple man, who believed in kindness and loyalty. Though he has left our side, his love will remain forever in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
