David Wayne Simpson

David Wayne Simpson was born in San Pablo AFB, Seville, Spain, on June 25th, 1965, and passed away unexpectedly on March 8th, 2026. David was born to John and Marjorie Simpson, who survive him. He grew up in Loranger, Louisiana, where he attended Loranger High School, forming friendships and memories that stayed with him throughout his life. He will be brought home to his parents in Loranger, Louisiana.

David was the proud father of two sons, Cody Simpson (born 1987) and Trevor Simpson (born 1991). He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Major in 1985, and later remarried in 2013 to Kim Nguyen, who brought three children into his life: Thao, Kenny, Trini. David cherished his growing family, and he especially adored his grandchildren, Aurora and Alexxis, the daughters of his son Cody.

A man of deep pride and commitment, David served his country in the United States Navy from April 1988 through July 1996, including during Operation Desert Storm. As an Electronics Technician Petty Officer Second Class, he was a member of the Submarine Force aboard the USS Ulysses S. Grant, a vessel that stood as a nuclear deterrent throughout the Cold War. One of the great honors of his military career was taking part in the decommissioning of the Ulysses S. Grant in 1992.

"Silent Watch"

A silent watch, a veteran's grace,

Their duty done, they've found their place.

In heaven's ranks, they stand so tall,

A hero's heart, forever called.

The discipline, integrity, and work ethic he carried from his service stayed with him throughout his life. After leaving the military, David spent 18 years at Intel as a dedicated Fab Technician. He continued to better himself by returning to school to become a radiology technician, and later, he and his wife Kim fulfilled a shared dream when they purchased and operated a nail salon, pouring their hard work and partnership into building something of their own.

Beyond his service, David had a rich love for the things that brought him joy and curiosity. He loved movies of all kinds and could lose himself for hours in a good story. He was an avid watcher of the History Channel, always eager to learn something new or revisit the past he found so fascinating. Music was another constant in his life - especially the sounds of Boston and The Eagles, bands he never grew tired of and often shared with those around him.

David also had a deep and gentle love for animals, especially dogs. They were constant companions throughout his life, offering him comfort, loyalty, and joy in a way only animals can. Whether he was sharing quiet moments at home, taking them on rides, or simply enjoying their company by his side, his dogs were a source of happiness and peace for him. That bond reflected the kindness in his heart and the way he cared for every living thing around him.

David had a gift for connecting with people. Whether through his humor, his stories, or his steady presence, he left a mark on every person fortunate enough to cross his path. His family, friends, and all who knew him will remember his warmth, his strength, and the way he made others feel seen and valued.

Services:

A service to honor David's life will be held in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on March 27th, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

A second service will take place in Loranger, Louisiana, on April 4th at 11 am at the Methodist Church.

If you have any questions about services please reach out to Cody, Trevor, or Kim.

"Brave Heart"

A brave heart served with honor bright,

Through darkest days, they held the light.

Now in peace, their spirit soars,

Forever free on heaven's shores.
