Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Road ChapelRichard L. Edwards rode into town November 24, 1933, in Pitchfork, NM, born to his Ma, Enid and Pa, Temple Edwards. Richard was blessed with a whole rodeo of brothers and sisters, and a bushel of nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
On June 1, 1957, he lassoed the love of his life, Donna Edwards. Together they rustled up 3 daughters, Tammy, LeighAnn, and Kimberly, and through the next few years were blessed with a herd of 10 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids galloping around. In their hearts they had several “adopted” kids and grandkids.
Richard was a cowboy at heart, rarely seen without his trusty cowboy hat. This handsome country gentleman had 92 years of life under his belt, packing love, laughter, and lots of life experiences. Oh, the stories he told!
Richard worked hard all his life. A man of many trades. At the age of 10 he began farming in wheat fields with his brothers. He then worked in oil fields in Tatum, NM where he met the love of his life Donna. He was a mechanic, a welder, a backhoe operator, worked 20 years for the RailRoad, and many years at Intel until he chugged on into retirement. Then he restored tractors, traveled, gardened, and spent as much time as possible with his family.
He never met a stranger, and he had friends everywhere he went.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, hunting, road trips, collecting tractors, belting out tunes on his guitar, and solving puzzle trinkets.
But what really got his boots scootin’ were Jesus, coffee, his family, his church family, country music, tractors, animals and especially dogs.
Richard hung up his hat and rode off into the sunset on March 4, 2026, into the arms of his Lord and Savior.
