Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service - KnightstownFreida Sharon Edwards, 80, of Greenfield passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by family at Springhurst Health Campus. Frieda was born April 2, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama to Willliam F. and Estelle (Knighton) LaPointe.
Freida was best known for her talkative personality and knew no stranger. She was a kind, loving soul who wasn’t afraid to tell you how it is. She was also quite the story-teller. Freida was in the service industry spending most of her employment at Western Electric. Later in life, Freida would become a stay-at-home grandma which she was most proud of being known as “Mona”. With this she was able to make special memories with each grandchild and great-grandchild that they will forever cherish. Freida was very proud of her family and loved sharing pictures and memories with anyone she met. As an Elvis Presley enthusiast, Freida had quite the collection of memorabilia; in which she was extremely proud of. Freida became a resident at Springhurst in 2022. She adopted everyone she met there as a friend or family.
Not having her here with us on earth will be something her family will never get over. Although knowing that she is in her eternal home is something that brings tremendous comfort to her family and friends. The family knows that she is beyond happy and grateful that she is now with her eternal Father up in heaven.
Freida is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Robin and Shea Goodpaster of Carthage; grandchildren, Savannah of Knightstown, Spencer (Rose) of Peru, and Gracie of Spiceland; great-grandchildren Avery and Hudson Cox; and niece Lynn Boeke.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Edwards; sister, Sandra Spencer, and niece; Donna Augaitis.
Freida’s family would like to give their sincere thanks to the staff and residents of Springhurst Health Campus for the love and care Freida received (even though she didn’t really give anyone the choice). It brings the family comfort that she was loved greatly even when they weren’t there visiting.
