Nancy Louise Mason, 81, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greenfield passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born March 4, 1944 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Roy E. and Helen Louise (Sorrell) Welsh.
Nancy, a proud graduate of Spiceland High School's class of 1962, devoted many years of her life to education and the well-being of others. With a heart full of compassion, she spent many fulfilling years teaching special education at Greenfield Jr. High School and the AYS program at Clearwater Elementary School, touching the lives of countless students. Her professional journey also included Ford Motor Company, the Knightstown American Legion, and working Security for various Indianapolis Sports and Entertainment venues. Above all, Nancy cherished her moments with family, making life-long memories and sharing her love for fishing. Nancy was a member of the Eastern Star in Spiceland, the Psi Iota Xi Sorority and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and commitment to service, forever remembered by those who had the honor of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Terry Mason; sons, Brian Mason and Brent (Tracy) Mason; grandchildren, Logan and Cale Hausman, Hank, Will, Ruby and Mary Mason; brothers, Barry and Mike Welsh and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kelley Ann Mason; sisters, Patricia “Pat” Haynes and Donna Miller.
A private burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery. A public celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 8. Time and location will be forthcoming.
