Bobby Joe Whittington

Bobby Joe Whittington, of Carriere, Mississippi, passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on September 23, 1946, in New Albany, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Paul Whittington and Nancy Rebecca Benifield, and two siblings, Betty Norris and Benny Whittington. Bobby leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his girlfriend, Helen Braune; six siblings, Nancy Dumestre, Paula Wilkenson, Bill Whittington, Ricky Whittington, Linda Estep, and Cheryl Clark; 18 nieces and nephews; 36 grand-nieces and nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved greatly. A graduate of East Jefferson High School, Bobby carried the lessons of his youth throughout his life, embodying the values of hard work and dedication. His professional career at the American Can Company was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. A Vietnam Veteran, Bobby bravely served in the United States Army. His time in the military was a significant chapter in his life, one that shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor. His experiences during the war forged in him a deep appreciation for life's precious moments and the importance of cherishing those we love. Those who knew Bobby will remember him for his love and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. His presence was a source of comfort and joy and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobby will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
