Emil Joseph Cancienne Sr.

Emil Joseph Cancienne, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 surrounded by family in Covington, LA. He was born on July 14, 1935 in Raceland, LA to the late Norman Cancienne, Sr and Heloise Hernandez Cancienne. Emil was preceded by his beloved wife of 61 years, Elaine Vollenweider Cancienne, and his sister, Garnet Cancienne. He was the loving father of Deborah C. Tourres (Donald), Emil J. Cancienne, Jr. (Dawn), Bryan M. Cancienne (Jeri), Donna Cancienne Ippolito, and Doree C. Kelly (Robert). He was the proud grandfather of Ashlee Wessman (Auburn), Gerald Pennington (Cathy), Caleb Tourres, Emil J. Cancienne, III(Lauren), Whitney Whittington (Trey), Cheseré C. Mahler (Troy), Desireé C. Barado (Walter), Micah Galy, Matthew Kelly (Alisha), Mark Kelly, Maci Kelly, Mia Kelly, and Molly Kelly. Emil will be tremendously missed by his 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and also survived by his brother Norman Cancienne,Jr. We are confident that he heard, "Well done thy good and faithful servant" from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that he served throughout his life. If you knew Emil, you knew he was a man of fervent prayer. Many lives were touched, mentored and ministered to through his life that was dedicated to Christ. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, June 27, 2018 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time.
