Esther Delores "Deanie" Accardo

Esther Delores "Deanie" Accardo, a cherished matriarch and esteemed businesswoman, passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 91. A resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, she was born on February 27, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Deanie was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Lacombe and Mary Mahoney, and three of her siblings, Shirley Barcelona, Dallas Lacombe, and Mickey Achor. Deanie is the beloved mother of Darlene Thomas (Gerald), Guy Federer (Chauntel), and Phylis Zemke (Michael). She was a source of endless support and wisdom for her grandchildren, Gerald Thomas Jr., Brent Thomas, Steven Federer, Haley Federer, Tyler Martin, and Taylor Martin, as well as seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind, to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and two sisters, Lee Denina and Melba Twomey, who shared her passion for cheering on the Saints, a pastime that brought them much joy and many cherished memories. Deanie's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her entrepreneurial spirit. In 1965, she opened Deanie's Restaurant and Bar on Annunciation Street in New Orleans; and in 1974, she established Deanie's on Hayne, a beloved, long-standing family-owned establishment and one of the last remaining seafood houses from the original Hayne Boulevard community. She found great joy in cooking New Orleans cuisine for the people she loved, and her kitchen became a true gathering place for family and friends. The restaurant remains in the Accardo family, a testament to her vision and legacy. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
