Gail Ann Camus

Gail, age 74, joined her husband in Heaven on Friday, September 19, 2025. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, LA. A lifelong caregiver at heart, Gail dedicated much of her life to nurturing children, serving as the Director of the Mother's Day Out program at Belle Chasse United Methodist Church. Her warmth and patience touched countless young lives and left a lasting impact on the families she served. A proud member of Ponchatoula United Methodist Church, Gail lived her faith daily, through her generosity, compassion, and steadfast devotion to those she loved. Family was her greatest joy, and Gail spent every possible moment with her children, cherishing each laugh, milestone, and quiet moment together. An extraordinarily skilled needlepoint artist, her hands brought to life intricate designs that now live on as treasured heirlooms. Whether creating or caring, Gail poured her heart into all she did. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and deep connection, not only to her family but to the many dear friends she treated as family. Her presence, her laughter, and her boundless care will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Camus Daigrepont; son, Christopher James Camus; brother, James Simmons III (Cheryl); and her best friend, Lori Eldridge Haven. Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Edward Camus; parents, Stella and James Simmons Jr.; sister, Jean Marie Simmons Alcorn Callais; brother, Danny Simmons; mother-in-law, Maxie Rita Guidry Camus; and grandparents, Philomene and Elisio Assavedo, and Rosa Victoria and James Simmons Sr. A cremation was held and a service will be held by the family at a later date.
