Gerald Palliser Obituary

Gerald Frank "Jerry" Palliser, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Jerry was born on November 15, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Milton Clifton Palliser and the late Edna Mae Palliser. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Donald Palliser. On August 24, 1963, Jerry married the love of his life, Daphne Sparling Robinson. Together they built a family rooted in faith, love, and hard work. He is survived by Daphne, his devoted wife of nearly 62 years; his children Gerald Frank "Jerry" Palliser, Jr. (Hailey) of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Jeane Zimmerman (Paul) of Destin, FL, and Joshua Palliser (Stephanie) of Atascocita, TX. He was the proud grandfather of Wesley, Zachary, Regan, Peyton, Macari, Bradyn, and Addison, and great-grandfather to Maddox, Eli, Grayson, Marlee, Archie, Wayland, and Taz. He is also survived by his brothers Michael Palliser (Duchess) and Thomas Palliser (Darlene), sister-in-law Sharon Palliser, and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1958 graduate of Covington High School, Jerry attended Southeastern Louisiana University from 1963 to 1965. His career in the oil and gas industry spanned decades, beginning offshore as a clerk on pipeline laying barges with McDermott out of Harvey, Louisiana. In 1983, Jerry moved to Thibodaux, LA, where he worked in general marine construction, estimation, and execution for McDermott. He later joined Offshore Pipeline Inc. (OPI) in Houston in 1990, expanding his work in marine construction. In 1995, he transitioned to Lafayette to work with CSI Hydrostatic Testers before returning to Houston in 1998 as Vice President of Operations and Development at Horizon Offshore. In 2005, Jerry returned to his hometown of Covington, where he enjoyed a brief retirement before continuing his passion for the industry as an independent contractor with Project Consultant Services (PCS), supporting pipeline projects. He entered full retirement in 2008, where he found great joy in traveling with Daphne, spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time with his beloved dog, Hank. Jerry will be remembered for his infectious smile, work ethic, wisdom, and devotion to his family. His legacy of love and dedication will live on through all who knew him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433. A small reception will immediately follow the service in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Tammany Hospice, 101 Ashland Way, Madisonville, LA 70447 https://www.sttammany.health/supportsths. E.J.
