It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of John Richard Gaude on September 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Richard touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and love for his family and friends. Richard had a lifelong love of sports. He was a simple man whose greatest joys were found in the fresh scent of cut grass and the love of his family, especially his great-grandbabies. Among all the titles he held in life, none were more cherished than “PawPaw”. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Virgina LaRue Gaude, children; Jeff Gaude(Sheri), Paige Fernandez(Beau), grandchildren; Amanda Clark(Dustin), Miranda Gill(Bobby), Jacob and Faith Gaude, great-grandchildren; Riley, Dawson, and Blakely.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys Gaude and his brother Ralph Gaude.
Visitation will be held at Harry Mckneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana, 2000 N Morrison Blvd., on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
The family invites all who knew Richard to come together to honor his life, share memories and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.
