Kim Ortego of Hammond, Louisiana passed away peacefully at her home on August 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 64. She was born on January 17, 1961 in Hammond. The daughter of Ruby Lee Herbert and Vincent Victor Varisco (Cookie). Sister of Lisa Shelton (Taylor) and Vincent Varisco (Dolores); and sister-in-law of Tara Varisco. Kim is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Randy Ortego; children Kaylie Ortego and Chris Ortego; and her grandson Micah. Kim loved to travel - especially to Tennessee and Disney World (those are her most magical places to visit). She also enjoyed being outside in her flower bed, going to plant shows, estate sales, and going to the casino. Another hobby that she enjoyed was decorating her house, especially for Halloween. Kim always loved spending time with her great nieces and nephew. In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her brother, Brent Murphy Varisco; mother-in-law, Jeanette Bond; and her aunt, Toni Muscarello. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Her memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
