Luis Manuel Mariani, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on February 23, 1954, in San Tome, Venezuela, the son of the late Luis and Antonieta Mariani. Throughout his life, Luis was known for his jovial spirit, vibrant energy, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
Luis was a dedicated Major in the Venezuelan Air Force, where he served for 15 years as an aircraft mechanic and flight engineer. His expertise and commitment to his work exemplified his professional integrity and passion for aviation. Following his service in the Air Force, he transitioned to working as a supervisor for PDVSA Oil & Gas in Venezuela for 12 years. Most recently, Luis utilized his skills as an aircraft mechanic at Aviation Specialist Inc. in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Beyond his professional achievements, Luis was a loving husband, wonderful father, caring son, beloved uncle, and an excellent friend. Luis cherished his time with his family and he served as a positive role model for those in his life, inspiring them with his actions and words. Throughout his life, Luis made many close friends. His ability to connect with people was a testament to the warmth and sincerity of his character. His kindness and nobility were evident in every aspect of his life, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Luis is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Yaraluz de Mariani; three sons, Luis Eduardo Mariani Garcia, Eduardo Cesar Mariani Garcia, and Luis Manuel Mariani Garcia; brothers, Omar Mariani and wife Oneida, Oswaldo Mariani and wife Elsa, and Eduardo Mariani and wife Salma; sister, Marby Mariani; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Luis was preceded in death by his sister, Luisa Mariani.
Family and friends will be received at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St George Dr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70809 on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 8:30 am until the Funeral Mass begins at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
