Michael Bark Obituary

Michael Richard Bark passed away on August 26, 2025, at age 71, surrounded by his loved ones.

A native of Clinton, Iowa, Michael spent countless hours hunting and fishing with his family. He was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Acacia Fraternity. Michael and his family relocated to New Orleans in 1988. After beginning his career as an Accountant, Michael pursued night classes at Loyola University, where he ultimately obtained his J.D. and spent many years practicing law in New Orleans.

Michael was an active member of the Deutsches Haus for several decades, where he contributed not only his rich bass/baritone voice to the chorus, but also his passion for cooking and desire to engage with the Greater New Orleans community. When he was not cheering on his beloved Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Saints, Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing Fantasy Football.

Michael is survived by his three loving children: Michelle Oestriecher (Michael), Rachel Bark, and Nathan Bark; and his grandsons, Michael Oestriecher II and Matthew Oestriecher; former wife Nancy Clark; and his siblings.

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send a donation to the Deutsches Haus in his name.
