Sharon Hatfield Obituary

Sharon Hatfield was called home to the Lord at the age of 89 on October 7, 2025, in her home in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by her children. Sharon was born August 8, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ronald Loyd Hatfield; her parents, Eugene Hanselman and Ferne Spellman Hanselman; and her brother, Jerald Hanselman. Sharon is survived by her three loving children, Diane Loup (Gary), Michael Hatfield, and Joseph Hatfield (Hai); six wonderful grandchildren, Sara Loup, Rachel Sax (Michael), Amy Kenyon (Benjamin), Sean Hatfield (fiancé Sheila Mandagie), Amanda Hatfield, and Ethan Hatfield; and two adorable great-grandchildren, Ruby and Carter Sax. Sharon was also close to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Peggy Hatfield. Special thanks to her son Michael who has taken great care of Sharon for the last 5 years. Sharon spent most of her early years in Wichita, Kansas, and married Ron in 1955. From 1959 to 1973 they raised their family in Denver, Colorado, before settling in Covington in 1973. Sharon was an exceptional lifelong golfer (in Kansas, Colorado, and Louisiana) who won many championship trophies and awards, both individually and alongside her golfing husband Ron. Sharon was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years. She was also an active member of the Covington Country Club and their Ladies Golf Association. Sharon was involved in numerous bridge groups and enjoyed getting together with her close friends and her ladies Lunch Bunch group. She also loved gardening, singing, hosting, cooking, and, most of all, she truly enjoyed her family. Sharon's life was marked by love, compassion for others, and her unwavering Christian faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Ministries in Covington, Louisiana, at https://www.htlministries.org/get-involved or The Alzheimer's Association https://alzfdn.org/donate/ are appreciated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A memorial reception will follow at 12:30 PM at Covington Country Club, 200 Country Club Drive, Covington, Louisiana. Interment will be held privately at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. E.J.
