Yvonne Verneuil Felder, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on December 8, 1932, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the daughter of the late James McCabe Verneuil and Audrey Vitter Verneuil Currier. As Postmaster in Robert, Louisiana, Yvonne devoted many years to serving her community until her retirement. She was also the part-owner of Evergreen Tractor & Equipment in Covington and River Oaks Campground (now Hidden Oaks Campground) in Robert. Yvonne attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula and St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany. She was an active member of the Tangipahoa Parish Homemakers Club, the Red Hat Society, and the treasurer of Ponchatoula Class of 1950, where she built lasting friendships and shared joyful moments. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, painting, crocheting, knitting, and putting together puzzles, pursuits that reflected her creativity and patience. Her biggest joy came from holding babies and entertaining guests at her many parties. Her journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to her family, her work, and her unwavering belief in God, which served as her guiding light. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have known her, whether they knew her as Mrs. Felder, Mrs. Yvonne, Yvonne, Mom, Nan, or Momsie.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Cathy Felder Havel (David), Don Felder, Patricia Felder Tranter (Stephen), Theresa Felder DeVine (Johnny), and James "Wormy" Felder (Sharon); grandchildren, Bridget Hall Anderson (Stephen), Amie Hall Bruno (Joseph), Wendy Havel Gagnard (Tobey), Billie Jo Havel Lambert (Matthew), and John Havel (Mindy), McCabe Felder (Amanda), Audrey Tranter, Will Tranter (Carrie), Claire Tranter Yost (Chris), Beezie Landry (Jenny), Robert Landry (Sarah), Ryan Felder (Katy), Michael Felder (Brittney), Scott Felder (Ashley), Christina Burge, A.J. Burge; great-grandchildren, Mayer and Henry Hall, Avery and BeBe Anderson, Connor, Caleb, and Caroline Bruno, Tobey (Lacey) and Lane Gagnard, Jolea Lambert, Raelynn Havel, Noah and Jack Franklin, Alexander Felder, August and Ellie Tranter, Carter, Lily, Reese, and Baron Landry, Garrett, Thomas, Nora Kate, Addy, Matthew, Walker, and Davis Felder, great-great-grandchild Giovanni Gagnard; grand-daughter-in-law, Dawn Hall; sister-in-law, Billie Jean White, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Columbus Felder, Jr.; son, Gordon Felder; daughter, Mary Felder Burge; grandson, Terry Hall; daughter-in-law Kathy Felder, and siblings, Shirley Bonicard, James Verneuil Jr., and Lynn Holden.
Family and friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Friday at 11:00 am, with Fr. Paul Gros officiating.
Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
