Alice H. Birdener

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Alice H. Birdener, 92, of Anniston, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Reverend John G. McDonald will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Mrs. Birdener passed away on August 10, 2025, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Birdener grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and retired as a human resources analyst with Alabama Power. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where she was involved in the Ladies Guild and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Mrs. Birdener was also a member of the Energizers at Alabama Power. She will be most remembered as a loving mother who was adored by everyone who knew her. Mrs. Birdener was preceded in death by her husband, Jean V. Birdener; her parents, Charlotte and Emil Hasenjager; and six siblings and their spouses. Survivors include her daughters, Ruth B. Mangone and her husband, Chuck, Theresa B. Burst and her husband, Ken, and Anne B. Conway and her husband, Patrick; grandchildren, Allison Mangone and her husband, JP Halliwell, Angela Mangone Hughes and her husband, Nate Hughes, Jacob Conway and his wife, Maggie, Mirela Burst, and Calina Burst; and a great-grandchild, Hallie Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
