Alma Ervin Obituary
A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Alma Williams Ervin, 57, of Jacksonville, Alabama will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Clarence Henderson officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the services at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Oxford, Alabama. A public viewing for Ms. Ervin will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Alma Williams Ervin was born July 12, 1964, in Anniston, Alabama to the late George and Catherine Underwood Williams. At an early age, Alma accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior where she united with Sweet Rock Baptist Church in Oxford, AL. Later in life she continued being a faithful servant of the Lord and united with Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the culinary committee, the Women's choir and Women's Ministry. She was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to the late Ray Anthony Ervin on June 4, 1988. They were blessed with a daughter, Chaulsie Latrice Ervin. Alma was educated in the Talladega County School system where she graduated from Munford High School in Munford, AL. She continued her education at New World College in Anniston, AL. In 2010, Alma started her career as a Child Nutrition Program worker within the Anniston City School System and advanced to Child Nutrition Program Manager. On February 4, 2022, Alma answered the Master's call and peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord while in the comfort of her home in Jacksonville, Alabama surrounded by loved ones. Alma fought a good fight; she kept her faith, and she has finished her course here on earth. While absent from the body she is now present with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Ervin, her parents George and Catherine Williams, siblings: Kathalyne Birdsong, Darryl Sears, Faye Drakes, Melinda Brathwaite, and Georgia Forbes. Memories will forever be cherished by her loving daughter: Chaulsie Ervin; sons, Kendrell Williams and Anthony (Tisha) Guy ; grandchildren: Kendarius Williams, Khalil Williams, Kendrick Ball, Aaliyah Ervin-Hill, Anthony Guy, Jr; her siblings: Rhonda (Michael) Williams of Aurora, CO, Annie (Larry) Foster of Munford, AL, Johnny Sears of Anniston, AL, Robert (Gaynell) Williams of Jacksonville, FL, George (Vickie) Williams, Jr of Anniston, AL, Loama Jones of Irvington, NJ, Barbara (Rev. Grady) Zellars of Brooklyn, NY, Sharon Williams of Bronx, NY, Patricia Kelly of Oxford, Al, Lawrence (Angela) Williams of Munford, AL and a host of loving nieces, nephews, many cousins, friends and other relatives that will greatly miss her.
