Alton Glenn Chandler

Funeral service for Mr. Alton Glenn Chandler, 84, will be Monday, November 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with the Rev. Ted Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery at 3 p.m. following the service on Monday. The family will receive friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service on Monday. Mr. Chandler went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015. Mr. Chandler is survived by his son, Dr. David G. Chandler and his wife, Bridget, of Jacksonville; three granddaughters, Chelsea N. Chandler, of Birmingham, Courtney V. Chandler, of Tuscaloosa and Cristen E. Chandler, of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews and a caregiver, Jamila "Mimi" Lanier, who he loved and adored. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Mr. Chandler was a native of Albertville and a long time member of Hewitt Memorial United Methodist Church. He was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War Era. Mr. Chandler worked for the US Army at Redstone Arsenal as a Supervisor and Administrator for many years. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Chandler is preceded in death by his wife, Ina Sadler Chandler; his daughter, Infant Vickie Marie Chandler; four brothers, Jasper D.
