Amanda Joyce Burford, age 87, of Jacksonville, AL passed away from natural causes on September 12, 2021. She was surrounded by family at the time of her death. Ms. Burford is survived by her brother, Jerry Lee; daughter, Catherine Hammett; two grandchildren Kelly Ganson and Taylor Hammett; and great grandchildren Jessie, Tessa, Tristan, Tenley, and Gracie.Ms. Burford is preceded in death by her husband, Hughes Frank Burford; sons Phillip Williams and Dan Williams; brother Bill Roberts; sisters Jean Bishop, and Mary Catherine Roberts.Ms. Burford was born April 23, 1934 in Talladega County, AL to the parents of Thomas and Jessie Roberts. She was an exceptionally determined and self-reliant woman from an early age, and her early career supported this country's military endeavors by working in several administrative positions as a civilian employee with the United States Army.Ms. Burford loved fishing, hosting friends and family at her table, and making things beautiful. Above all, she loved her family dearly.Ms. Burford was a member of the Ohatchee Church of Christ at the time of her death.A memorial service will be held at the Ohatchee Church of Christ on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at 11 AM. Friends are invited to join the family for a meal following the service.
