Mr. David Earl "Chop" Delaney was born October 31, 1949 in Randolph County, Alabama in the small community of Graham. David accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Seventeenth Street Baptist Church. He received his formal education in the Anniston City School System and was a graduate of Cobb High School Class of 1968. He embarked on a journey of service to his beloved country, enlisting in the US Navy and serving with honor for two years until receiving an honorable discharge. David developed a skilled trade as an electrician while working at Lockheed Martin for ten years. He later joined the workforce at Regional Medical Center where he remained until his retirement in 2010. Affectionately known as Chop to his friends and family, David had a passion for music. His love for music inspired his singing and many dance moves making him the life of the party and a joy to be around. In his spare time, David enjoyed watching old westerns and sports. Along David's path in life, he met his soulmate, Christine B. Delaney, and the two were later united in Holy Matrimony sharing over 15 years of a blessed marriage. On March 21, 2024, David Delaney peacefully entered his eternal resting place in God's heavenly arms while in the care of Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Mr. David Delaney was preceded in death by his mother, Reccie Gates Shears; his father Robert Delaney; and two brothers, Jerome Shears and James Delaney. His memories will never be forgotten, but forever remembered and cherished by the love of his life, his wife, Christine B. Delaney; his sons, David Earl (Davon) Delaney, Jr. of Marietta, Georgia and Daniel Delaney of Atlanta, Georgia; his bonus daughter, Pamela Jones of Anniston, Alabama; his bonus sons, Dasheen (Vickie) Burton of Birmingham, Alabama, Ken Burton of Columbus, Georgia, and Trent (Araba) Burton of Macon, Georgia; his sister, Thalisa (Travis) Thompson of Anniston, Alabama; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his special nieces, Lashundra Shears and Tomeka Shears Thomas of Anniston, Alabama; his nephews, Demetrius Delaney of Newnan, Georgia, Anthony Delaney of Villa Rica, Georgia, Marlo Delaney of Atlanta, Georgia and Jason Wyatt of Bowden, Georgia; his uncles, Roy (Gloria) Delaney and Walker (Lou) Delaney of Decatur, Georgia; his best friends, Larry Bolden of Hiram, Georgia, Larry Collins of Anniston, Alabama, Baba Goggins of Jacksonville, Alabama, and Frazier Burton of Anniston, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. David was my late sister, Gwendolyn Johnson Atkins Classmate of 1968. I extend my sympathies to you and your family on the loss of David. May God five you strength and continued peace. Also to his best friends, Larry, Frazier and Baba who were also close friends of my sister, it is hard to lose a close friend because they become like siblings to you.
