Heather Hood Barthel

A memorial service for Heather Hood Barthel, 35, will be Friday, July 25, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Saks Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Borders officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 5 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Barthel died Monday, July 21, 2014 in Jacksonville. She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Barthel Jr.; her three children, Destiny Renee Barthel, Taylor Renee Barthel and Joseph Tyler Barthel; her mother and stepfather, Doris and Dick Wolfe; her father and stepmother, Furman Gerald and Cathy Hood; two sisters, Kimberly Hood Bush and Erin Hood; grandparents, Furman and Evelyn Hood and two nieces, Cheyenne and Chloe Koth. Mrs. Barthel was a native of Orangeburg, S.C. and was proud to be called a "Carolina Girl". She was employed by Health South as a multi-skilled technician and was a loving wife, mother, daughter and daughter-in-law who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Bessie Rae Judy and an uncle, Hank Judy.
