Genise, Sheila Mae, Greg, and family,

I find myself wishing that this is not real. Cousins are often our first friends and closest peers. Jacquelyn and I shared such a relationship. We shared childhood on Jones Hill. We lived 1 block from each other and visited daily. We shared great grandparents (George Ball {Leila Richey Ball}). Our great-great-grandfather Henry Ball worked, traveled as a Fiddler Player. He also farmed on the Chinnabee Plantation for President George Washington family. He later purchased his own farm.

Jacquelyn was more than a second cousin. She proved to be a true friend who demonstrated her genuine care and concern for others. Although our paths broadened, she remained the same. She would listen attentively to my accomplishments like developing Home Telehealth programs to reach rural or disabled individuals. Or Mental Health Departments to provide care and stability for those unable to provide it themselves.

She did not change from the 7 years old child that I walked 3 miles daily to school with during rain, snow, and at times heat (during the 1960s). Following two years at Tuskegee, she decided that her purpose or Meaning in Life was Motherhood.

I will carry Jacquelyn's memory within my heart forever. I am grateful for the time that we shared together. Nevertheless, the imprint that she made upon my life. She taught us about friendship, resilience, and joy.

I close this message reflecting upon 1 Corinthian 13: 13 (New American Bible {1 13:13 King James Version}).
The three concepts of Faith, Hope, and Love, Jacquelyn kept the greatest gift of them all. It was the ability to love and encourage others to seek intimacy with God each day. Jacquelyn (cousin) you will be greatly missed!
