Lawrence R. Mitchell, 84, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. (Central Time) on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Dr. Larry Riddle officiating. A native of Anniston, Mr. Mitchell moved to Cobb County, Ga. in 1964. He graduated from Jacksonville State University and worked as a Chemist for the Food and Drug Administration, retiring after 34 years. He also was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1952 - 1956 as a Medical Technician. Mr. Mitchell was of the Methodist faith, and loved watching western movies and Alabama football. His is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Mitchell, of Powder Springs, Ga.; son, Allen (Kathie) Mitchell, of Mansfield, Texas; daughter, Karen (Frank) Dintino, of Cummings, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Jesse Mitchell, Olivia Mitchell, Marina Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Sarah Dintino, Marissa Dintino and Jonathan Dintino. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Ga.
