Robert Dale Barnwell

Funeral service for Mr. Robert Dale Barnwell, 61, will be Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Hill Crest Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Barnwell died on Thursday, February 12, 2015, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife Janice Barnwell, of Jacksonville; his daughter, Crista (Jonathan) Resch, of Rome, Ga.; three sons, Jaylon Ellison, of Anniston, Jonathan (Amanda) Ellison, of Opp and Russell Barnwell, of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren, Annalyn Resch and Elizabeth Resch, both of Rome, Ga.; two sisters, Joy (Donald) Patty and Janie Ivey, all of Piedmont; one brother, Henry Barnwell, of Piedmont; a sister-in-law, Elayne (Judson) Patterson, of Talladaga and his nieces and nephews, Bruce (Shannon) Ivey, Vanessa (Greg) Terry, Michael (Beverly) Barnwell, Shelley Gibson, Steve (Becky) Patterson, Daniel (Jennifer) Patterson, Rodney (Dana) Hurst and Pamela (Randy) Caduix. Pallbearers will be Vaughn Slaght, Willard Norton, Travis Talley, Bruce Ivey, Steve Patterson, Greg Terry, Daniel Patterson and Michael Barnwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Upper Room Sunday School Class and the members of Hill Crest Baptist Church Choir. Mr. Barnwell was a member of Hill Crest Baptist Church and their choir. He grew up in Nances Creek community, was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County, a graduate White Plains High School Class of '72 as well as a graduate of JSU with B.A. in Political Science where he wrote for The Chanticlear. For the past 25 years, Dale served as the Manager of Industrial Engineering at Fruit of the Loom's Leesburg Yarn Mills. Mr. Barnwell was an avid outdoorsman who loved sports, especially fishing with the Hill Crest's Bass Club. Dale loved giving to the community and was a natural and dependable leader. He coached countless youth and adults in basketball, baseball and softball throughout the years. Mr. Barnwell was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ruth Barnwell; his niece, Melissa Tricoli and his brother-in-law, Charles Ivey.
