Stefan Hunter, Jr. Obituary

A Celebration Remembering the Life of Mr. Stefan Arnaz Hunter, Jr. 31, of Anniston, will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Interment will commence immediately following the service at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a public viewing for Mr. Hunter on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home in Anniston. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Anniston. At an early age, Stefan accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Smith Tabernacle C.M.E. Church and he also attended St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education in the Calhoun County School System and was a 2010 graduate of Saks High School where he enjoyed numerous sports and activities, but amongst those, he excelled in basketball, which was his favorite. Basketball was his heart. From a young age, Stefan discovered his passion for basketball and excelled in the sport. He was a standout player, earning the title of MVP for Calhoun County in 2010. Stefan continued to pursue his love for basketball by attending Gadsden State Community College, where he showcased his remarkable skills on the court for three years. Later, he embraced new experiences and challenges by joining the men's basketball team at Shoreline Community College in Seattle, Washington. Stefan was well known and loved. It is often said that one should live without no regrets and Stefan embodied that very concept. He had a sincere appreciation for family and the bond that was shared among those that was dearest to him. Stefan's love extended beyond his achievements in sports. He found his soulmate in his high school sweetheart, Ms. Daica Wilson, and their love blossomed into a beautiful marriage. Together, they welcomed the greatest joy of their lives, their son Tahj Ashton Hunter. Of the many relationships that he established, his role as a father was one he took great pride in with his only child, Tahj. Simply because of who he was, Stefan was extremely easy to love.
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Stefan Arnaz Hunter, Jr. traded his earthly home for eternal rest joining his grandmothers, Sharon Hunter, Rosa Mae Royal, and Rhodann Baker, grandfather, Stephan J. Barber, Godmother, Ericka (Ricky) English, and best friends, Deangelo Morris and Marcus Cunningham. While his departure from this world has left a void that cannot be filled, we find comfort in knowing that Stefan's memory will live on through the many lives he enriched. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. Leaving behind to cherish all his love and precious memories are his mother, Adraine D. Royal; father, Stefan A. (Tawanda) Hunter, Sr.; son, Tahj Ashton Hunter; mother of his son, Daica Wilson; three brothers, Dequirious Royal, Quindarious Johnson, and Kendall Edwards; four sisters, Audejia Royal, Denika (Alyousha) Kelley, Tationna Williams, and Keaundra White; grandparents, Carolyn Patrick; William (Sarah) Patrick, and Johnny Hunter; two nephews, Demarian Kelley and Rhilee Thornton; two nieces, Amiah Kelley and Amya Hampton; six aunts, Arashalla Royal, Sharolyn (Jeff) Hunter, Rebecca (Shedrick) Dobbin, Melissa Hill, Angela Briskey, and Kalisha (Kash) Thomas; three uncles, Brian (Tonya) Worthy, Kevin Hunter, and Ryan (Shonita) Barber; four great-uncles, Larry (Margaret) Baker, Sr., Ralph Hunter, Douglas Hunter, and Elbert Hunter; five great-aunts, Classie Johnson, Oritha Smith, Eunice Wills, Patricia (Wayne) Lacey, and Judy Patrick; two best friends, Kevin Beard, Mytez Madden, Demarcus (Slump) Smith, and Andre Richardson; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends including Saks High School 2010 basketball team. Stefan will truly be missed in his community by his friends, loved ones, and by all the hearts he has touched. Although we mourn the loss of Stefan, let us also remember the joy and happiness he brought to our lives. May his soul find eternal peace as he rests in the loving arms of the Lord. S.M.
