Thomas Parsons Obituary

Funeral services for Thomas Parsons, 88, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before service time. Mr. Parsons died Monday, November 29, 2010, at his home. Survivors include his wife; four children; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister. Mr. Parsons was a native of Creston, Kentucky and had lived in Jacksonville for over 25 years. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1941 and served 27 years in the Army, serving in World War II, the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct, Merit, American Campaign, European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign in World War II medals. He also received the Germany Occupation, National Defense medal and medals from the Republic of Vietnam Service with two Bronze Service Stars and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with device 1960. He was a member of the Piedmont DAV, Anniston Masonic Lodge # 931 and Jacksonville American Legion. He was a loving father and husband. The family suggests memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa FL.
