Tommy Bishop Sr

Funeral services for Tommy Bishop Sr., 71, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Daugherty and Dr. Rudy Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Bishop died Saturday, October, 22, 2011, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bishop; one son, Tommy Bishop Jr., of Piedmont; one daughter, Beth Pressley (David), of Piedmont; three grandchildren, LeAnne Bishop, of Jacksonville, Kendall Pressley and Jordynn Pressley, both of Piedmont; two sisters, Martha "Pat" Bishop, of Piedmont, and Mary Hammonds (Ray), of Rome, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Sandra Brothers and Betty Bishop, both of Piedmont, and Barbara Bishop, of Rainbow City; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Piedmont Autozone and Cliff's Auto Parts. Mr. Bishop was a native of Cherokee County and a resident of Piedmont most of his life. He attended the First Congregational Methodist Church and was a member and past master of the Mt. Signal Masonic Lodge #508 in Rock Run. He retired from Federal Mogul and was an avid gardener and farmer. Mr. Bishop was well known for being a mechanic and would often help the elderly with their cars. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Aubrey Bishop and two brothers, Jerry Bishop and Wallace Bishop.
