Virginia Hambey Obituary

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Virginia Marguerite Hambey, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the age of 89. Marguerite was born September 30, 1919 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Jennings. A textile worker by training, she worked in Tryon Cotton Mill and Barwick Carpet Mills, both located in Georgia. Marguerite was a woman who loved her family and church, and she ministered to others through her love of cooking. In addition to serving her community, she also enjoyed crocheting and fishing. For the last six years, Marguerite was a resident of MountainBrook Village in Sevierville, Tenn., where she made many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Hambey, grandson, Jim Coxwell Jr., seven sisters, and four brothers. Surviving family include her son, James L. Coxwell and wife, Sandra; daughter, Elizabeth Marshall and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Cam Coxwell Kirk, Karen and Lex Hart, Doug and Lori Marshall, and Miles Marshall; great-grandchildren, Spencer Kirk, Tyler Coxwell, Justin Smith, Cameron Hart, Preston Hart, Kate Marshall, Will Marshall, and Jack Marshall; sister-in-law, Mary Lindsay; many nieces and nephews, including, Jerry Chandler and wife, Lucy, of LaFayette, Ga. Contributions may be made in Marguerite's memory to Grace Hospice, 700 Markhill Drive, Sevierville, Tenn. 37862. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Nelson officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow in LaFayette Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, 121 W. Villanow Street, LaFayette, Ga. (706-638-2222). Her memories are etched in our hearts forever.
