Alice McTaggart, 80 of Matawan, NJ died on April 22, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Alice, affectionately know as Ali, was born January 14,1934 in the Bronx to Douglas and Alice Grieve. Ali married John McTaggart of the Bronx in 1956 and moved to Aberdeen in 1964 where they raised their five children. They divorced but remained close friends. Ali enjoyed gourmet cooking and taught culinary arts at the local community college. Ali was also an accomplished soprano and sang whenever given the chance.

Alice is preceded in death by her younger brother, Patrick Grieve; her son, Gordon McTaggart, and her parents.

Ali is survived by her children Douglas McTaggart, Tammy and Frank Ward, Debbie Carroll and Heather and Larry Lanzaro; and 7 grandchildren, Dylan, Jessie, Maryalice, John, Joseph, Dana and Mia. She is also survived by her identical twin sister Jodi and Jodi's husband, Bill Kingsley. Other family members dear to Alice are her brother's wife, Cindy Grieve and her two children, Jennifer and Greg and Gordon's wife, Debbie McTaggart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751, (732) 566-5300. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Clements Roman Catholic Church 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan, NJ 07747, (732) 566-3616.

Alice will be buried alongside her mother and father and her grandparents, Douglas and Josephine Grieve at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Scleroderma Foundation c/o Tim MacCutcheon, 75 Boulevard Drive, Freehold, NJ 07728. Ali's son, Gordon, died at the age of 48 from this rare disease.
