Perth Amboy

On January 23, 2015, Ana Maria Vargas entered her final rest surrounded by her family in Care One at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy after a long and valiant battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A lifelong resident of the city, she graduated Perth Amboy High School in 1979, attended Middlesex County College, and was a bookkeeper for Schott Brothers Inc.

Surviving are her daughter Cassandra Ojeda and grandson Ziyon , parents Maximino and Haydee Vargas and nine sibling: Edwin Vargas, Margie Perez and husband Arcelio, Luis Vargas, Max Vargas and wife Mary, Elba Vargas, Raul Vargas, Eddie Vargas, Gloria Rosado and husband Fred, Robert Vargas, and many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, January 27, 2015 between 10am and 12pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 U.S. Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at http://www.nationalmssociety.org. Checks may also be mailed to the NJ Metro Chapter, Aspen Corporate Park 1, 1480 U.S. Highway 9 North, Suite 301, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.

Titi, You will always be remembered as a hard-working, humorous, talented and loving aunt, daughter, mother, sister and friend. Having you in my life was such a wonderful blessing; having you right upstairs made it that much better. From french braides (which I've never perfected) to girl scouts, we have always had our special time together. Your humorous witt kept everything the same throughout your battle. My Wonderful, sweet, funny and beautiful Aunt. You know I remember as if it was yesterday that you pulled me by my ear and sat me down in the living room because I was picking on my sister. You told me that I should respect my sister because she's the only one that I have and that the next time I bothered her or called her names that you would tell my Dad on me(and everyone in my family knows that ment a WHOOPING). I don't know if you ever knew this Tt Ana but that day changed my perspective on family values and made me realize how much I need my sister in my life and that putting family down was wrong(Even though you told him anyway & he still whooped me). We are supposed to be uplifting and caring to other's. Tt Ana, you taught me that Family comes first and I'll never forget that. I pray every day that God makes me the Man I need to be and I know now that you are with the Lord TT Ana that you will be proud of the love you see in my heart and in my life every day. You were a wonderful Aunt and will truly be missed. From a young age you taught me a lot about resilience and strength. You were sole provider, an attentive Mom and still found time to indulge your nephews and nieces. Whether it was teaching us how to draw Garfield, braiding our hair or even making clothes for our stuffed animals. You were there to share in all our milestones and accomplishments. Even through your battle with MS, you were able to keep your feistiness and humor. You never complained and instead would comfort us with your jokes and humor.
