A devoted husband and loving father, Andrew "Snake" Spagnolia, age 78, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Hampton Ridge Healthcare and Rehab Center, Toms River.

Andy grew up in Spring Lake Heights and graduated from Manasquan, Class of 1957. He lived in Wall and Point Pleasant Beach, before settling in Manchester. "Spag" fought a long and brave battle with four different cancers until melanoma finally defeated him. Through many treatments at the U of Penn Hospital in Philadelphia and many follow-up scans, he maintained his friendliness and sense of humor to include voluntarily counseling and cheering up chemo patients at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ, for which he was selected Volunteer of the Month. Andy had a gift for telling jokes. His humor, positive attitude, and laughter were infectious and brought joy and comfort to all.

A US Navy Veteran, he was employed with NCR prior to 43 years as a top boat salesman at Ocean Beach Marina in Lavalette. Andy was an avid chess player and golfer for many years and enjoyed playing bocce. He had an interest in telling jokes,photography, astrology and fencing.

He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Olga Spagnolia. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughters, Stephanie Neuhaus and her husband Michael of Bordentown, Elizabeth Zambella and her husband Mark of Brick and Kathleen Melillo of Point Pleasant Boro; a grandson, Luke Zambella; and two brothers, Ronald and his wife Peggy of Toms River and Tony and his wife Pat of Ewing, and so many close friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 13 from 6-9pm at the Ocean Beach Marina, 3245 Route 35 South, Lavallette.
