Sue, I was sorry to read of your mother's death. I'm guessing that since it was unexpected, as I read in the guest book, it was peaceful. Much to be thankful for. It sounds like she had a great life and was very talented. May she rest iin peace. Geoff

To no longer hear her sweet and loving voice is such a great loss for me – living a continent away. But to remember the many gifts she gave me: so very many – gives me some surcease from my sorrow!
Her love of nature, of color, of texture, of animals – and above all, her family, infused my life with beauty and purpose. She also encouraged the love of reading and learning in me although she herself had never finished her high school education.
She was a shy and gentle woman who hid her artistic talents from the world in order to serve her husband and children.
After the death of my father in May of 2000, she began to become acquainted again with her inner self and the treasures of the talents that she had within her. So each day she would draw, play the piano and the organ and read books. She also continued my Father’s practice of feeding peanuts to the squirrels who lived in the tree outside her door. And she did this even on the last full day of her life.
Her departure from this life was quick and unexpected despite the fact that she had attained 93 years of age.
She was beginning to awake to a new day when she left us to in fact - meet the New Day that she believed in.
When I was a child she enabled me to go to summer camp by becoming a camp counselor. I still remember the morning grace that we would sing each day when we were there.
God has created a new day
Silver and green and gold
Live that the sunset may find us
Worthy these gifts to hold.
She was and always will be the gift that was given me.
